Alpha Chi is the oldest social women's sorority at Chico State. We socialize with other sororities and fraternities within the Chico community. We also enjoy sisterhood trips, bi-annual formals, camping, shopping, barbecues, roller-skating, movie nights, and many other activities. We hold our an annual retreat in Reno before the Fall semester begins.
When do you recruit girls?
We recruit new members in both in the Fall and Spring semesters. This gives girls who are feeling lonely after leaving home, an opportunity to meet new friends, and find their Chico Home Away From Home. Whether you're a first year or just transferred, are attending Butte, or new to Chico and looking to make some new friends, Alpha Chi is the right choice for you!
What are the costs?
Since Alpha Chi is a local sorority, fees are considerably less than National Sororities. We do not have a rush fee, our pledges pay $80 in dues, their initiation pin which is $50, and there is no initiation fee . The Active Member fees are $80 a semester, plus $20 in parlor fees for girls who don't live in the house. This is for toilet paper, use of the soda machine, etc.

Why aren't you affiliated?
Alpha Chi sorority is not affiliated with Chico State, but we are very active on the Chico State campus. Do you have to live in the house?
Alpha Chi takes great pride in our big yellow house. Living in the house with your sisters is a privilege and highly encouraged. Most of our Alumni will tell you that living in the Alpha Chi House is one of their most cherished memories of their time in Alpha Chi. The experience is highly encouraged by girls who've lived there previously. The Alpha Chi Alumni own our beautiful two-story home with a finished basement. Our house is located on the corner of E. 4th and Orient Street, it is conveniently located just a few blocks from downtown Chico, Chico State Campus, and is walking distance to Bidwell Park.
Are meals included in the house?
We are extremely fortunate to have a professional chef who cooks dinner for our house girls Sunday through Thursday nights. Dinner is served buffet style in our food warmers built in our kitchen counter around 5 o'clock. Our house mom stocks the breakfast fridge which is available Monday through Friday mornings.
Is Alpha Chi a time commitment?
We have a little saying, "You get out, what you put in." If you attend events, hold positions, join committees and, be open to making new friends, talk to girls that you wouldn't normally talk to, and take your time to impact the sorority. You will ultimately leave your mark within Alpha Chi, and experience the all the great benefits and experience the true meaning of sisterhood.
